In a previous post, we told you about one of the greatest American Custom for the moms-to-be: the Baby Shower and its famous “Diaper cake”.
We have tested it and we can say we had a very good time! We maybe didn’t do it the typical American way, because husbands were invited, we didn’t make a registry in a big store and there was nobody from the family (as they don’t live here). Nevertheless, all our “local” friends were here, we’ve been eating delicious food from Italy, France, Germany, Spain, and USA, all the evening long!
We’ve also been playing games… The baby Shower games we played were nice for a mixte assembly (not too “girly”). Invitees had to bet about the gender and the weight of the baby, we made a “pregnancy and parenthood” quizz (to see who’s the most ready between the mom and the dad), and then my husband and I had to guess the flavours of several Baby food jars (yuck!).
Icing on the cake, our friends brought us fantastic gifts for the baby! We had no time to open all these ones in front of them (what you normally do in a typical Baby Shower), but we said thank you to them afterwards.
So, if you are pregnant in the U.S., try this custom! It may sounds akward in your own culture to celebrate a baby before he/she is borned, but it is actually a lot of fun!
