Renting Household Equipment

My husband and I came to the Bay Area in January 2009. At that time, we didn’t know how long we would be staying in the US. We were really relieved when we discovered that we could rent our household equipment from the Bechtel Center. Not only did we avoid having to shop at many different stores to find everything we needed, but we only paid $20 and have been using the equipment for 1.5 years. Even at the end of our stay, it was so convenient to just return the borrowed items and not have to deal with the hassle of selling or giving away everything we purchased.

The CCIS Loan Closet/the Bechtel Center offers the handy service of lending housekeeping equipment (such as pots and pans, dishes, bedding, appliances, etc.) to you as long as you need it, and at a very low price!

How Can I Rent Household Furnishings?

The Loan Closet is open by appointment only. Contact the I-Center Information Desk at (650)723-1271 and ask for the volunteers who are organizing the loan closet.

After making an appointment with them, you can pick up the items in the basement of Abrams House in Escondido Village for a registration fee of $20 per couple, or $10 for single students.
